About
A Bay Area native, Brian is a welding instructor who has studied fabrication and the manipulation of metal for the past 6 years. A carpenter long before that, he has recently been exploring the complementary relationship of these two crafts.
As moustaches are to antlers, he splits his time between the industrial arts of the bay area, and the purity of the Alaskan bush.
When not on the road, he is creating public sculpture and has functional pieces in furniture and jewelry galleries throughout Oakland and San Francisco. He recently completed a cross country tour with his good friend Sharif Abu-Hamdeh through the United States on bicycle and train, teaching free workshops to underprivileged youth on finding their creative voice through art.
He is currently on faculty at the Crucible, where he has taught welding and welded sculpture for the past 4 years. And is looking forward to his upcoming Artist in Residency at sfBrightworks in San Francisco!
